Projects with Care is built on a simple but powerful belief: Every child deserves to feel cherished and supported, no matter their circumstances. What started in 1992 as Stockings with Care, a heartfelt effort to fulfill the holiday wish lists of kids in NYC shelters, has since grown into a year-round commitment embraced by volunteers and sponsors from across the city. Our programs have touched the lives of over 75,000 children to date, offering not just resources but the reassurance that they are seen, valued, and worthy of love.
We believe families facing hardships deserve more than survival—they deserve dignity, belonging, and joy. Through close partnerships with NYC’s social service and housing agencies, we provide personalized support at moments that matter most. Today, Project First Day ensures students enter their classrooms with confidence, equipped with everything they need to succeed. Project Welcome Home helps domestic violence survivors transform empty apartments into loving homes where healing can begin. And Stockings with Care continues to help families create holiday memories.
Yet, our work isn’t limited to these inflection points. When emergencies arise—when a shelter’s heat fails in winter, when families need emergency support, when unexpected crises hit—we mobilize to fill the gaps. Because we believe caring is more than a gesture. It’s a promise that no child will be forgotten.
